Skiing
With 236km of pistes open to guests and mountain professionals on hand to guide you on your way, Oz-en-Oisans offers something for skiers of all skill levels, including:
- Beginner: Slow starters and beginners can build their skills and confidence in Les Bergers, this dedicated area with wide, easy, green runs which will challenge learners without making them uncomfortable.
- Intermediate: Alpe d’Huez is a superb array of moderately difficult runs. With peaks up to 2176m, Signal d’Homme has many enjoyable, sunny pistes that make for interesting, exhilarating skiing. These runs are easily accessible by a chairlift on the southern side of the village.
- Expert: Alpe d’Huez also provides many great challenges for the expert skier. Don’t miss the famous tunnel through the south-facing Glacier de Sarenne. One of the longest black runs in the world, it begins on the glacier and culminates in a steep mogul slope that winds back down to the village.
Ski Hire and Passes
Guests can obtain ski passes, for which a photograph is required, at the main lift. Ski hire is available from two ski shops in the village. For more information, check out this full guide to ski hire.
Snowboarding
Oz-en-Oisans is excellent for snowboarding, with a wide choice of on- and off-piste terrain. Most of the slopes follow the fall thrline, with minimal flat and traverse sections. Snowboarders can also enjoy a terrain park and half-pipe, either near the main lift base or in nearby Auris.
Sightseeing
The lift provides access to the main terrace of the Pic Blanc summit, from which you can experience an unbelievable panoramic view. Rated three stars in the Michelin guide, this view covers a fifth of all French territory, and even L’Itali and La Suisse, from more than 3,300m!
Winter Creches
Ideal for very early beginners, the winter creche will introduce children between six months and six years to the joys of sliding and gliding around for the first time, while also allowing the older kids to further explore the area. Creches are supervised by a qualified instructor at all times.
